ICH8 is offered in several different versions and is the complement to the 965 class MCH chips. The non-mobile ICH8 does not have a traditional PATA interface, and just one AC97. In practice, most baseboard manufacturers would like to still support and offer PATA appropriate connection types over additional chips of JMicron or Marvell.

As the first, ICH controls the ICH8 eSATA and Gigabit Ethernet (before accommodated in the MCH). The base version possesses only four SATA 2.0 ports.

The ICH8R (RAID) as well as the remaining chips have the possibility of attaching six SATA devices. Additionally the ICH8DH (Digital Home) has Quick Resume and can be used together with the P965 and/or G965 in Viiv-certified systems.

The counterpart to the ICH8DO (Digital Office) is the Q965 MCH, which together provide vPro compatibility.

The Mobile Intel® 945 chipset family offers higher performance for flexible and scalable platforms based on integrated graphics (945GM/GMS) or discrete graphics (945PM). The Mobile Intel® 943GML and 940GML Express chipsets are optimized for the Intel® Celeron® M processor and the Intel® Celeron® M processor ULV.  

Intel P35

The P35 Express is a mainstream desktop computer chipset from Intel released in June 2007, although motherboards featuring the chipset were available a month earlier.[1] The P35 Express chipset supports Intel's LGA775 socket and Core 2 Duo and Quad processors, and is also known to support upcoming 45nm Wolfdale/Yorkfield dual and quad core CPUs.

It is notable for providing the first commodity support of DDR3 SDRAM. (It also supports DDR2 SDRAM; the choice is made by the motherboard manufacturer.) Another notable point is that it does not provide Parallel ATA support; most 2007 motherboards add PATA support via a JMicron JMB361 or JMB363 chip.

It was codenamed 'Bearlake' before it was commercially released in June 2007.[1]
